Back from Reno!  The Redhawks took game one at Nevada in comeback fashion 8-7 but lost games two and three.  The second game of the series was a deflating collapse that featured a grand slam and a walk-off two run bomb in the bottom of the 9th to give Nevada the 11-10 victory.  A strong outing by RHP Seafth Howe was not enough to win game three as the SU bats went silent in the 2-0 defeat.  Seattle U is now 12-14 overall.

This week the Redhawks will host a variety of local opponents.  SU plays UW in the third game of the season series on Tuesday at 6 pm looking to beat the Huskies for the 3rd straight time.  Then Division 2 St. Martin's rolls into town for a 6 pm start on Thursday followed by Central Washington University at 6 pm on Friday and 1 pm on Saturday.  Redhawks Pregame Show commences 30 minutes before first pitch.  Hope you'll tune in at www.goseattleu.com!

Well this is embarrassing.  It's been over a month since my last blog post and that is 100% on me.  Too much attention being paid to play-by-play and not enough to the blogosphere.  Time to remedy that situation!

At this point, my world revolves around Seattle University Baseball and all of the flexible scheduling that results from trying to play baseball in the springtime in the Pacific Northwest.  The season thus far has been full of the ebbs and flows you would expect out of a young college team such as the Redhawks.  A few highlights include victories over #23 Oregon State in Corvallis and the University of Washington (twice!).

The Redhawks beat the Huskies last night 6-4 in dramatic fashion in the 10th inning to move to 11-12 on the year.  You can check out the archive of the entire broadcast here.  Clicking on that same link will also give you the opportunity to check out the archives of each and every Hawk Talk, the weekly SU Baseball Podcast.

The Redhawks fly to Reno tomorrow to take on the University of Nevada in a three game weekend series.  First game is scheduled for 2 pm on Friday, so check out www.goseattleu.com at 1:30 for the Redhawks Pregame Show live from Peccole Park.  See you then!

Rain, rain go away!  Tuesday's game against PLU has been postponed until March 12 and now the Redhawks and the Portland Pilots have decided to move today's game to Sunday.  So we are looking at a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon and then the 3rd game of the series on Sunday at noon.  Meanwhile, check out the super awesome Hawk Talk Podcast here.

And if you're jonesing for some Husky hoops talk, check out this week's Dan and Mo Hoops Show here.  Mo and I break down the LA weekend, the upcoming Pac-10 Tournament, and visit with Freshman Marjorie Heard.

What a weekend it has been for my teams!  The Husky women went to Pullman and kept The Streak alive over the Cougs.  32 games straight now of Husky dominance!  Love it.

The Seattle U Baseball squad had themselves a good weekend as well.  Took 2 out of 3 from Notre Dame including a damn fun sweet of the doubleheader on Saturday.  The starting pitching was incredible and the bats were just hot enough to get the job done.  Pretty big deal to take it to a Big East team.  Very proud of the boys.

Yikes, it has been a while since my last blog update!  My excuse is that I have been uber-busy recently, but that really only takes me so far.  The big news is that the Huskies have wrapped up the home slate for 2011, so Sara Mosiman and I can no longer be found on UWTV Channel 27. However, you can cue us up On Demand anytime you please.  Oregon game.  Do it now.  Also, the Dan and Mo Hoops Show can still be found weekly at www.gohuskies.com.

I'm transitioning as we speak to the Seattle U Baseball season which started last weekend on the road at Cal State Northridge.  SU split that series 2-2 and are looking forward to the opening home stand this weekend against Notre Dame.  Check out Hawk Talk with Dan and Drew for analysis and hilarity at www.goseattleu.com.

Dan and Mo Hoops show is up!  Check it out here.  We have a great chat with Junior Mackenzie Argens and talk about the implications of the home split last weekend by the Dawgs.  Love doing the show with Sara Mosiman.  What a pro!

A roller coaster of a weekend for the Huskies as they came back from an 18 point deficit to beat Oregon 90-76 in overtime on Thursday only to lose a shocker on Saturday to the struggling Oregon State Beavers.  Both games were televised live on UWTV and are available on XFinity on Demand for delayed viewing.  The Dawgs take to the road this weekend to face Cal and Stanford, a trip that must result in at least one victory for the Huskies to have a chance to climb up the standings of the Pac-10.  Don't miss the 3rd installment of the Dan and Mo Hoops Show on www.gohuskies.com on Wednesday to hear our take on the Husky season thus far.

As the Huskies get set to do battle with the Oregon Ducks tomorrow at 7 pm on UWTV Channel 27, you can whet your appetite by listening to the second weekly Dan and Mo Hoops Show at www.gohuskies.com.  We sit down with Husky junior Kristi Kingma and preview this weekend's action.  Enjoy!

I am a podcasting fiend!  After the wild success of the Dan and Mo Hoops Show, I've decided to work on a weekly podcast with Color Analyst Drew Samuelson regarding all things Seattle University Baseball.  We recorded the first installment yesterday and look forward to its posting on www.goseattleu.com over the next couple of days.

Sara and I also just wrapped up the second episode of the Dan and Mo Show where we recap the Husky victory over WSU last weekend and preview the games against Oregon and Oregon State this upcoming weekend.  Also, a special guest sits down with us for a chat.  Be sure to check it out on Wednesday on www.gohuskies.com!

Mark this day down in your calenders as the day Dan and Sara were turned loose in the world of podcasting.  If you want to hear 38:33 of nothing but talk about Husky Women's Hoops, then our podcast is definitely for you.  The tentatively-named Dan and Mo Hoops Show has been finalized and will hit www.gohuskies.com tomorrow.  Don't miss it!

Heartbreaker for the Dawgs today as they lose 61-58 to the Arizona Wildcats.  From the sound of it, the officials were completely out of line in the way they called the end of the game.  Steve Sandmeyer, who calls the road games on KKNW was absolutely appalled.  Too bad for a Husky team that badly needed a road win at Arizona.

The Dawgs will have to try to shake it off and get back after it on Saturday against the Arizona State Sun Devils.  Hopefully they will get a fair shake from the stripes in that contest.

Wow!  Now that is more like it.  The Huskies came up big against the California Golden Bears last night, winning by a score of 57-48.  Trailing by 3 at half, the backcourt tandem of Kristi Kingma and Sarah Morton put the team on their shoulders and surged for the win.  An exciting game and a huge victory for the Dawgs as they look to climb back into the Pac-10 race.

Also a great broadcast turned in by Sara Mosiman, myself, and the rest of the crew at Hec Ed. It was a lot of fun and we got to call a fantastic game.  It was a good day all around.

Dawgs are looking to bounce back from a tough loss on Friday night to the #4 Stanford Cardinal 80-51.  After spotting Stanford an 11-0 lead, the Huskies kept the game within reach until the last 5 minutes when the Cardinal seized control and pulled away.  A good effort overall, but foul trouble was a huge issue for Washington as Regina Rogers fouled out after only 7 minutes of play and four other Huskies ended the game with 4 fouls.  They must figure out how to keep the posts out of foul trouble in order to play with the best available players down the stretch.

The Cal Bears come into town today to take on the Huskies who desperately need a win.  A loss to Cal would send UW to 6-9 overall and 1-5 in the Pac-10.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2 pm and you can watch the live broadcast on UWTV.

Shocking news out of the UW yesterday as Lorenzo Romar confirmed that an investigation is brewing by the Seattle Police into allegations regarding a sexual assault of a 16 year old girl by a member of the men's basketball team.  I am a firm "innocent until proven guilty" proponent, but it is easy to see that, at the very least, this will cause much distraction at Hec Ed.  Awful timing for the men's team as they started the Pac-10 season 4-0 with dominant home victories last week over Oregon and Oregon State.

Although the effect on the women's program will be significantly muted, I imagine that the investigation may have a negative effect on their season as well.  Many of the Husky women hoopsters are close friends with their male counterparts and will be trying to lend support as best they can.  An ugly situation all around, but as Coach Romar said yesterday to a room full of cameras and reporters, adversity will test resolve and reveal character.  All UW fans will be hoping both the men and the women Huskies will be able to persevere.

January 10, 2011
The Dawgs split over the weekend down in the Beaver State by taking the opener from OSU on Thursday 55-52 behind a furious comeback late in the game.  The Huskies put up a good fight against Oregon on Saturday, but fell just a bit short in the final game at McArthur Court 68-64.

So far, the Pac-10 season has been rough on the Dawgs record-wise (1-3), but they have been very competitive in each game and with many of the walking wounded returning to the court, UW is poised for a surge up the conference standings.  For that to happen, however, they must take care of business this weekend and knock off the Bay Area schools at Hec Ed.  No easy task.

The #4 Stanford Cardinal, the pinnacle of Pac-10 supremacy, come into town for a 7 pm tip-off on Friday and then the Cal Bears will invade Hec Ed at 2 pm on Sunday.  Don't miss a second of the action live on UWTV!

The Husky women take to the road after falling to the USC Trojans 60-51 yesterday.  The Dawgs haven't been playing badly and kept both games close against the LA schools this past weekend.  Considering #8 UCLA and USC are considered likely finishers in the top tier of the Pac-10 this year, the Huskies fared just fine.

Here's the problem, though: Being swept at home in the opening series of Pac-10 play puts serious pressure on the Huskies to go down to Oregon and sweep the Oregon schools on the road.  At the very least, they MUST come back with one win.  Those games can be found on 1150 KKNW with Steve Sandmeyer on the call.

The next home game will be another massive challenge as the Stanford Cardinal come into Hec Ed on Dec 14 at 7 pm.  If you can't make it to Hec Ed, make sure to tune in to UWTV Channel 27 for our live broadcast.

Last night was an important night to have multiple televisions as the UW football team upset Nebraska to win the Holiday Bowl at the same time that the UConn Women's Basketball team saw their incredible 90 win streak come to an end at Maples Pavilion to the Stanford Cardinal.

Today is another one of those days as the full slate of bowl games comes up against the first live telecast of UW Women's Basketball on UWTV.  Be sure to check it out as the Huskies take on  #8 UCLA at 2 pm.  I'll have the call with Sara Mosiman live on channel 27.

December 23, 2010
Let's all just go ahead and forget about that game, shall we?  The Huskies managed only 3 FGs in the entire second half as the smothering defense supplied by Georgia Tech stymied the Dawgs entirely.  Final score: 60-27.  Yuck.  However, my color analyst Sara Mosiman and I would like to thank the Huskies for providing us with the unique challenge of filling an entire half of basketball with witty banter.

The Huskies look to rebound on New Year's Eve against #10 UCLA at 2 pm.  Please join us live on UWTV and DawgChannel All-Access or archived on Comcast On-Demand!

Well it has been ages since my last blog post, so I figured it was about time to get back on the horse. After spending the fall coaching football at Endicott College in Boston (NEFC Champs!), I have returned to the beautiful 206 to call games for the University of Washington Women's Basketball. It's a pleasure to rejoin the great crew at UW and a joy to welcome Color Analyst Sara Mosiman to the team.  Sara is a former Husky and will provide valuable insight as to the inner workings of the program.

Remember, you can catch each and every home game live on UWTV and www.gohuskies.com, or archived anytime on Comcast On Demand.
